Priorities

Affordability

Keep District C livable.

Houston has never been so expensive. We need to build more housing faster, with simpler permitting and neighbors at the table. We also need to run the city like it respects taxpayers’ money: clean procurement, clear metrics, faster project delivery, and fewer cost overruns.

What I’ll do:

  • Day One Priority – Build-Ready: Direct district funds to make land build-ready for development by clearing overgrown sidewalks and addressing drainage trouble spots.
  • Neighbor Input: Hold community meetings before major developments so neighbors have real input, not a construction crew parked in your front yard.
  • Development Reforms: Introduce permitting and development ordinance reforms that reduce delays and costs for housing projects.
  • Accelerate Housing: Use council agenda authority under Prop A to bring housing proposals forward when the administration is slow to act.
  • Healthcare Access: Support community pharmacy access so residents can get affordable prescriptions and preventive care close to home, not just through mail-order or distant clinics.
  • Budget Discipline: Question contract awards and budget line items at council meetings and reject spending when the math doesn’t add up.
  • Transparency: Push for public dashboards that track project timelines and cost overruns.

Public Safety

Make our neighborhoods safer.

In the Army, you don’t ignore small problems. You fix them. Houston deserves the same standard. That means investing in police recruitment, building community trust, and funding prevention programs that stop crime before it happens. It means expanding crisis response so we stop cycling people through ERs and jail. It also means fast enforcement on dangerous intersections, illegal dumping, and noise complaints. Someone was just killed in a hit-and-run two blocks from my home! The city should not take months to act on problems everyone can see.

What I’ll do:

  • Day One Priority – Illegal Dumping: Fund staff to clean up chronic dumping sites and use my newsletter to call them out until they’re cleaned up.
  • Prevention First: Allocate district service funds to proven violence intervention and youth programs.
  • Safer Streets: Push for intersection safety audits at high-crash locations and demand timelines for fixes.
  • Crisis Response: Expand Houston’s crisis response teams and Navigation Center capacity.
  • Recruit Officers: Fight for police recruitment funding in the city budget.
  • Direct Accountability: Hold public safety town halls with HPD leadership so residents can ask questions directly.
  • Investments and Coordination: Fight for public safety investments and coordination between HPD, the Sheriff’s Office, and Constables.
  • Animal Welfare: Strengthen animal welfare ordinances so cruelty and chronic neglect trigger fast intervention and real penalties.

Infrastructure

Make the city work on your block.

I built a mobile app for the City of Houston 12 years ago. I’ve seen from the inside how much our systems need modernization. We need to repair potholes faster, redesign dangerous intersections, and build a 311 system that tracks complaints and holds departments accountable. Finally, flood protection isn’t optional. I’ll fight for the drainage investments District C needs.

What I’ll do:

  • Day One Priority – Storm Ready: Create a District C disaster response plan with community partners, so every block is organized with captains when the next storm hits.
  • Flood Protection: Fight for drainage bond funding and ensure District C projects move forward on schedule.
  • Streets and Sidewalks: Review every capital improvement plan to ensure District C streets and sidewalks get their fair share.
  • Track 311: Build 311 dashboards so residents can see where their complaint stands.

Courage

This city is worth fighting for.

I’ve served in uniform. I’ve faced labor discrimination and seen transphobia impact my family. I work every day on AI safety so new technology can’t hurt people. On council, I’ll be brave: I’ll tell the truth, take responsibility, hold regular office hours, and protect our local control and values. When I see something wrong, I work with others to deliver results and stand up for what’s right.

What I’ll do:

  • Day One Priority – Responsive Constituent Services: Bring a customer service mindset to City Hall. No one who calls my office will be told “we can’t help you.” We’ll map every reason residents call, draft solutions, and create a standardized approach so problems get solved and not lost in the shuffle.
  • Self-Service: Publish FAQs and guides online so you can find answers quickly without waiting on hold.
  • HERO 2.0: Champion a new resolution to further protect our LGBTQ+ community from discrimination.
  • Artificial Intelligence Safety: Require transparency and safety testing when AI tools are used in city services. Draft a city-wide policy on responsible AI use, including guardrails on training data, procurement standards, and public accountability for how automated systems impact residents.
  • Democracy and Local Control: Speak up publicly when legislation threatens Houston’s ability to govern itself.
  • Protect All Houstonians: Coordinate with other council members against state overreach; other cities are finding creative ways to shield immigrants and historically marginalized communities.
  • Stand with Workers: Support the right to organize, fair wages on city projects, and safe and dignified treatment of city employees.
  • Stay Connected: Hold community office hours throughout District C and publish a weekly newsletter with upcoming votes and what I’m hearing from constituents.
