Meet Patrick
District C Roots
Patrick was born and raised in District C. He played at Fleming Park and Rice University, survived Tropical Storm Allison and Hurricane Rita, and was at Holy Rosary Catholic Church every Sunday. He went to Poe Elementary, Lanier Middle, and Lamar High. His debate coach, Jim Henley, helped him find his voice.
In high school, Patrick came out as gay. The summer before senior year, he worked as a counselor at a camp in the Texas Hill Country—until he was outed, interrogated by staff, and lost the job. That early experience with discrimination motivated Patrick to stand up to people who abuse their power.
Public Service and Leadership
Patrick went on to Duke University, where he served as the first openly gay student body vice president and on the board of trustees. He earned a Fulbright Fellowship, Truman Scholarship, and Point Scholarship. In 2013, he interned at Houston City Hall’s Department of Neighborhoods, building a mobile app to help Houstonians discover local businesses. After college, he worked at Bain & Company advising executives on strategy and leadership.
After the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol, Patrick felt called to serve. He joined the U.S. Army at 29 and became an Armor officer. In 2023, amid heavy fighting between Ukraine and Russia, he served in Poland as a tank platoon leader at NATO’s Battle Group on the Russian border. He led four tanks and 20 Soldiers alongside British, Croatian, Polish, and Romanian allies, helping deter further Russian aggression as NATO’s “first speed bump.” He finished active duty at Fort Hood and returned to Houston in February 2025. Today, Patrick works at an AI company, leading teams focused on making AI safer and less discriminatory.
Why He’s Running
Houston raised Patrick. It’s the same city that lost power for a week during Allison and Harvey. The streets in his neighborhood are more congested and dangerous than ever. But he’s seen Houston change—elect a lesbian mayor, grow tall instead of sprawl. He knows what Houston is capable of.
Patrick is running to build District C’s future and to stand up to the bullies who want to tear the city down. Greg Abbott has made Houston his target, attacking our people, elections, public health, and local control. Patrick has spent his life fighting back against people who abuse their power, and he’s ready to do it again.
